Antología de Macondo/Anthology of Macondo

Anthology of Macondo is a three-part exploration of Gabriel García Márquez’s seminal novel One Hundred Years of Solitude. The magical realist narrative revolves around the Buendía family in the fictitious town of Macondo. This piece was developed at Centre De Creation in under a month by MA Collaborative Performance Making students from Guildhall School of Music and Drama, alongside mixed-discipline circus artists.

“...she could not bear the earth in her mouth. But she persevered, overcome by the growing anxiety, and little by little she was getting back her ancestral appetite, the taste of primary minerals, the unbridled satisfaction of what was the original food.”

Curiosity sparks, a playful dance that turns into oblivion

Neverending, a wax and wane cycle incites addiction that leads to destruction, like a moth drawn to a flame
